VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
AT
OAKTON HIGH SCHOOL
The staff and faculty of Oakton High School welcome the
volunteer services of all parents, guardians and students. Volunteering not only
provides the OHS staff and faculty with much needed support and assistance, but
also demonstrates how important school is to you and your family.
Please show your support and complete this form by checking
your areas of interest. Volunteer opportunities are available on a regular or
one-time basis. When you have completed the form, please return it to the Oakton
High School PTSA or include it in your membership dues envelope.

VOLUNTEER ON A REGULAR BASIS Weekly, biweekly or monthly Please circle area of interest
- Activities Office: Filing, phone calls, faxing, etc.
- Athletic Boosters: Snack bar, sports representative, website design and
updating, carpentry skills.
- Attendance Office: One hour/day (10:30 – 11:30) to make phone calls
to parents/guardians of students who are absent at the beginning of the day.
- Career Office: Filing, bulletin boards, computers, working with students
- Challenge Day: Parent mentor in "What Counts" program. (1-2
times per month, 1:15 – 2:05 p.m.)
- Clinic: Regular or on call as substitute; filing, copying, checking in
students
- Library: Assist with shelving, filing, data entry, students
- Main Office: Answer phones and provide general information, greet
visitors and direct to appropriate office, assist students
- Newsletter: Help collate, label and mail – six times per year

VOLUNTEER FOR ONE-TIME EVENTS
Please circle area of interest
- "A Night on the Oaktown": Plan, chair committee, volunteer
for the night, solicit for auctions, publicity, security, refreshments, and
more
- After Prom Party: Set-up/clean-up, chaperones, food servers, etc.
- All Night Graduation Party: Parents of all grades welcome. Casino, food,
prizes, security, decorations, etc.

Arts In Education Committee: Reflections contest, Spring Juried Art
Show and Opening Reception, identifying local artists to be guest speakers
and businesses for art displays
- Baccalaureate Committee: Plan baccalaureate service, flowers,
refreshments, etc.
- Challenge Day: As a day-long participant

Challenge Day: Logistical support (organizing, planning, lunches) for
Challenge Days in October, + possible dates
in November, and as needed.
- Health Screening: Assist with vision and hearing screening, paperwork,
Oct/Nov
- Hospitality: Bake, telephone calls, plan, decorate, raffle, donations,
crafters (can be done at home)
- Other areas where I can contribute: guest speaker, area of expertise,
etc. Please indicate below how you can assist.
