Protecting Our Youth From Gang Involvement
Gangs are becoming more widespread and their appeal to young people is
growing. Rather than being confined to urban and poor communities as in the
past, gangs are networking across the country in both urban and rural
communities. Many young people are at risk for joining or being influenced by
gangs. Young people are often recruited by older gang members to do their
criminal acts, including drug trafficking.
What can you do to Protect Your
Child from Gang involvement?
Fairfax County Public Schools has produced a two page brochure that describes
gangs, who joins gangs, why, indications of gang involvement, and what parents can do to protect their children
from gang involvement.
The brochure may be obtained at the OHS office or downloaded
(see below). For more information call: 703-876-5256.
